Hyrox Training in Barcelona

Interior of the W | Hybrid Hyrox centre in Barcelona with training track and official equipment

At Welfare we know that Hyrox has become the fastest-growing competitive fitness format. That is why we want to introduce you to W | Hybrid, the first centre in Spain designed exclusively to train Hyrox the way it is raced: with official equipment, technical rigour and the mindset of a real race.

What exactly is Hyrox

Hyrox is a hybrid fitness competition that combines eight kilometres of running with eight functional stations, always in the same order and with the same equipment anywhere in the world. That standardisation changes everything: being strong is not enough, and neither is running fast. You have to hold your pace under fatigue and be efficient in every transition.

This is not a gym: this is Hyrox

W | Hybrid is not a conventional gym, nor a CrossFit box, nor generic functional training. It is a complete immersion in the world of Hyrox: a space designed so that you face the same physical and mental demands as a real competitor. Here Hyrox is not adapted; here Hyrox is trained, with no shortcuts and nothing improvised.

What makes the centre unique

  • Official Hyrox equipment. The same Concept2 SkiErgs, BikeErgs and rowers, sleds, sandbags and wallballs you will find at any competition. Zero substitutions, zero adaptations.
  • Certified Hyrox coaches. They know every station and every transition from the inside, and correct your technique as you go.
  • A specific methodology. The method is built around the 8 stations, with progressions and periodisation aimed at competing.
  • Immersive bootcamp. Smart lighting that marks out phases and intensity, and music synced to the BPM of each block to recreate the atmosphere of a race.
  • Groups of 12 to 16 places. Just enough for the coach to see you, correct you and adjust the loads to your level.

The pillars of the training

  • Functional strength applied to the demands of the 8 stations.
  • Hybrid endurance: holding your pace under fatigue, not just going fast when fresh.
  • Specific functional work: real technique on SkiErg, BikeErg, rower, sled, wallball, burpees and sandbag lunges.
  • Transitions as in competition: full run-throughs so you do not lose rhythm between stations.

What a session is like: 50 minutes

Each bootcamp lasts exactly 50 minutes, replicates competition dynamics and ends with real data:

  • Guided warm-up (8 min): mobility and specific activation for ankle, hip and shoulder.
  • Main AMRAP-Hyrox block (35 min): rounds of 1,000 m running plus one functional station that rotates every week.
  • Accessory block (5 min): compensatory strength so you can train hard without getting injured.
  • Wrap-up and data (2 min): total time, splits by station, average running pace and a comparison with your previous session.

The eight stations you'll master

The method is built around the eight official stations, with specific progressions for each one: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. And in between, what really decides a race: the transitions, which are rehearsed as in competition so you do not lose seconds.

Athlete training Hyrox-specific functional strength

Three formats to match your goal

  • W Hyrox Power. Functional strength applied to the real demands of the stations: sleds, sandbags and wall balls.
  • W Hyrox Engine. Aerobic engine and hybrid endurance: holding your pace under fatigue, not just going fast when fresh.
  • W Hyrox Complete. The full run-through: running, stations and transitions linked together just like race day.

Who it is for

Whether you come from the traditional gym and cardio burns you out at 1,000 m, or you are a runner looking for functional strength, a Hyrox competitor wanting to improve your splits, or a sports team that needs cross-training, you will find serious, measurable training here. No previous experience is needed: the intensity adapts to your level from day one.

Where it is

The first W | Hybrid centre is in Barcelona's Eixample (Carrer Girona 177, 08037), a few minutes from metro L4 Verdaguer and L5 Sagrada Família. It opens Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 22:00 and at weekends from 09:00 to 14:00, with further openings planned in Madrid and Valencia.

Frequently asked questions about Hyrox training

1. Do I need previous experience to train Hyrox?

No. The coaches adapt the load and the intensity to your level from the very first session. You will train the same stations as a competitor, but with progressions adjusted to you.

2. How is Hyrox different from CrossFit?

Hyrox is a standardised event: always the same eight stations, in the same order, with the same equipment and eight kilometres of running in between. CrossFit varies every day and prioritises technical weightlifting and gymnastics work. That is why Hyrox training is specific and measurable: you train exactly what you compete in.

3. How many people are there in each session?

Between 12 and 16 people. That is the limit that lets the coach correct technique station by station without the session losing its rhythm.

4. How often should I train to notice results?

With 2 or 3 sessions a week you already notice clear improvements in endurance and in your splits at each station. If you are preparing for a competition, the usual step is to move up to 3 or 4, combining the Power, Engine and Complete formats.

5. Can I try it before committing?

Yes. You can book a trial class with official equipment for €11 and experience the full immersive session before deciding anything.
